Open & Affirming Churches

“And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’ — Matthew 25:45 NLT

It recently came to my attention via Twitter (thanks Christine) that there is a website listing open and affirming churches. Absolutely love this as we are all working to find our way back home. No one should be denied access to the Church. Christ did not die on the cross to rise 3 days later so that we can pick and choose who can attend church on Sunday (or any other day of the week).

Be sure to check out the list available to see which churches in your are listed as Open & Affirming. Sending love out to all who crave to hear the Word of God and to be apart of the family.

God’s Plan Revealed

Far too often I hear Christians ask “God, what are you going to do in my life”, “God, what are you going to do for me when” or “God, what are you going to do for me if”. And once they are done ask God what He is going to do, they go right on with their life as if nothing else matters but them.

My brothers and sisters, God has already shown us His plan, but far too often we are stuck in our own lives to see His plan. It is not just a plan for me or you individually. Sure He loves us and wants for us to have the desires of our heart. But His plan is one for all of us collectively.

Are You Hindering God’s Love?

While there is no limit to the amount of love God can pour out to you, did you know you could be hindering His ability to give you love? Love is not something you receive and simply sit on. As the song goes, “Love isn’t love till you give it away.” Love is an action and that action must continue. You see, brothers and sisters, there is no limit on the amount of love God can give you, but you must pay that love forward.

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV)

Forgive Me Lord For I Have Sinned

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 NIV

Christ came and gave his life to be the permanent “stop gap”, which kept us from returning home to God. Christ came to pay the price to repair our relationship with God. Christ came to pay for the sin of Adam and Eve. Some Christians believe incorrectly that Christ’s death was for all of the sins we commit on a day to day basis. This is why we need to cry out to Him regularly to ask for forgiveness of our sins. His blood covers us and Christ intercedes on our behalf, when we ask for forgiveness.

Forgiveness is Sometimes Nearly Impossible

"For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." Matthew 6:14-15 NIV

Forgiveness seems easy when you read the words on a piece of paper, but often times it can seem a huge blow to the ego. And some times you can feel as if the other person does not deserve forgiveness. In July 2007, I was arrested and accused of crimes I could not imagine committing. And even though I knew I was innocent, the charges were not easy to fight. In fact, I was preparing for spending years in prison for crimes I had not committed. The only thing I did for nearly 9 months was to pray for softening of hearts. Then came the verdict: not guilty 5 times.

To Lose Your Life Is Not The End of The World

"Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it." Luke 17:33 NIV

While Jesus’s disciples literally lost their life for standing by him, some denied him or outright turned against him. Losing your life is not the end of the world. In fact, giving up your life, that is this worldly life, is not a bad thing at all. You see, far too many people, including many Christians, are caught up in this material world. When it comes to helping others, it seems only “fashionable” when someone catches it on camera. Helping others, without need of thanks or heaping praise, is exactly what we are commanded to do. In doing so, we show the father we are doing His business. All praise, glory, and honor should be to Him, the One who made us. It’s only in laying down your life that others can see the Father in you and through you. This is the very reason I pray each and every day this simple prayer.
