While there is no limit to the amount of love God can pour out to you, did you know you could be hindering His ability to give you love? Love is not something you receive and simply sit on. As the song goes, “Love isn’t love till you give it away.” Love is an action and that action must continue. You see, brothers and sisters, there is no limit on the amount of love God can give you, but you must pay that love forward.
"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV)
I love this passage as it talks about spurring one another towards love, which in itself is an act of love. The bible further talks about loving not just those you care about, but also those who are your enemies. We are commanded to love even those who go out of their way to harm us.
“But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” Luke 6:27-28 NIV
This is all love in action: do good, bless and pray. Love in action may seem easy when it is someone you care about or at least when it is someone you wish to seek approval from. But love is not love till you give it away. Go forward and spread love to all you encounter each and every day. For your simple acts may make the difference in whether or not God’s love is hindered in your life.
